Whats this? A comic on a Monday? No, you didn’t fall into an alternate universe where Mondays turn into Fridays (wouldn’t that be awesome??), there’s a good excuse for the comic today.
I did this one about two weeks ago now, and back then I was all excited and happy about it, but now…the more I look at it, the more I hate it. I hate the joke, I hate the art. I’m sure I’m being my own worst critic, but I really feel like I failed in this strip. Its weak. The joke is one that HAS to be made when making fun of a paladin, which makes it not all that creative, because who hasn’t heard this one a million times before. But not only that, can you even tell hes a paladin? I mean, really! He looks like a warlock to me. I didn’t do a very good job of making that look like plate, and I think it had to do with a lot of things being on my plate at the time I was doing this and just not really thinking about it.
Lastly, does he look 14 years old to anyone else? ‘Cause he does to me. I wanted to have a bit of a semi-chibi look to this comic, but I’m rapidly moving out of that with the later comics. I committed to this whole comic idea without a lot of development, I just sort of started drawing. Two of my greatest weaknesses are layouts and drawing guys, both of which are pretty prominent in this comic. I’m getting better at the layout thing, but I think guys still elude me a little. Anyway, I want to assure the readers that Vas will be getting a bit of a remodel. I need to tweak his look a bit, and definitely put him in some more manly plate gear. Of course, it will still be a robe-style!
I posted this today because the more I thought about it, the more I think I’d be pissing people off more than entertaining them if I had made them wait a whole week for this comic. So this Friday there will still be a new comic, but it also means I lose the small lead I had with the finished comics. In the end, I think its worth it though.
I’d like to just take a quick moment to give a nod to a couple other comics I’ve had the pleasure of getting into lately. Lonnie DiNello’s Almost Normal is an awesome and entertainingly random comic. I love how she draws inspiration from her real life experiences and is also not afraid to put it out there. Not only that, and I’m not sure if she knows this at all, but Almost Normal inspired me to finally stop making excuses to Drew and actually DO the comic. Daily Quests definitely wouldn’t have been around if she hadn’t been brave enough to take the first step with her comic!
The other is World of Warcraft, eh? by Kelly Aarons. This one is awesome but in a different way. First of all, its really creepy the similarities between the artist and myself. Same first name, same career, went to university in the same city, both love to draw and play WoW. But more importantly, its a comic that uses WoW and completely embraces everything awesome about being Canadian! Its obvious Kelly is just as proud to be Canadian and a WoW player as I am!
Last, a quick but totally heartfelt thank you to my writer, Drew. I am TERRIBLE at coming up with little details like what to say in the comic, and its surprisingly hard to come up with a comic title! But I swear, Drew just has a gift. He can think of the perfect line or the perfect title like its nothing. Not only that, but he takes care of a lot of the technical things too, that I just can’t be bothered with…Yeah, I’m lazy. I usually just yell at him to make something look this way, and he works his ass off to make it happen. As much work as drawing and coloring a weekly comic is, he does his fair share with the site and ideas too!
Alright, I’ve rambled enough! Again, sorry for the weak comic, and expect a slightly better one on Friday! ~_^ Also woah…sorry for the huge wall o’ text…I usually don’t talk this much! O_o!

Well, I happened to like it well enough! The flame cauldron shoulders for Paladins are pretty recognizable by now, and nobody ever gets tired of pointing us out for wearing dresses. They may not get healing as a result, or a taunt might “miss”, buaha. Anyway, hooray for comics!
LOL!
Thank you for the great comics! I am subscribed to the RSS feed and looking forward to reading your future work. Not only that, but I am glad you pointed out Almost Normal(I was already subscribed to World of Warcraft, eh?), so many more great comics to feed my addiction :-D
Keep up the great work!
No worries! Besides, if you’re advancing your style this much already, imagine how much growing you’ll do over even the next half year!
I look forward to Friday!
I think this is a great joke. I make fun of my mage friend for wearing a dress all the time. (Although he insists it’s a robe–heh riiiight).
Good luck, I look forward to seeing more episodes!

Congrats, you’re now a webcomic author! PIro will be sending you a membership card and self-flagellation whip in 4-6 weeks.
Comic’s great, my wife constantly makes fun of my lock’s Glacial Robe.
Meh. The joke in this one does nothing for me, but the art still looks great.
Ah yes the requisite Paladin joke… I forgive you for it :P It might not be the strongest punch line in the world but it get’s the job done and even though the plate “battle kama” might have needed some more detail to make it look more, well– plate-like, I like the style you’re using for these. I’ll definitely be staying tune to see what happens here at the daily quest.
Amazing work, as usual!
