Hope everyone had a fun Valentines or Love is in the Air holiday! For those of you who were single for it, to me valentines is what you make of it. It doesn’t matter if you’re with that special someone or not, just grab some chocolate and scarf it down!
Well, glad to see there’s a comic this week. I actually wasn’t really planning on doing one again, just a little splash image or something, but I guess something in me pulled through yesterday because I started and finished it all in one day.
Anyway, I’m really sorry about last week. What ended up happening was I got a last minute offer to work at a convention in Houston for the weekend. It was pretty much paid flights and hotels, plus a paycheck on top of that. I couldn’t say no. I brought my laptop with the intention of doing the comic, but I ended up having to do a “homework” assignment for a company I was applying to. That took precedence. Before I knew it, it was Friday, and I had nothing. Vas was also there, which is why he didn’t get a chance to write a lore post that week either.
Can’t promise it won’t happen again, though I am really mad at myself for letting it happen at all. There goes my perfect record. I’m just…having a really hard time pulling out artistic inspiration lately. I’m at my wits end about finding a job. Most places I apply to don’t even call me back, which means I’m not even good enough to warrant a face to face meeting. And the few places that I’ve been lucky enough to get an interview with have seemed really happy with me, but I’m not what they are looking for. I pretty much have no choice but to move away from Calgary now. Its a horribly depressing thought for me. I’ve come to wonder if I even made the right decisions about being an animator at all. I mean, I never even learned the most important style of animation, 3D. I was just stubborn, I love classical (and even then, I’ve never been able to work with a real pencil). But now its too late. I can’t afford to go back to school to learn 3D, and I can’t afford to live in this home anymore. I just don’t know what to do, or where to go.
Didn’t mean to project my issues on everyone here, but I needed to get it out, and it IS affecting the comic. Things like this go through my mind all the time. I hope things will get better, I really do. I’m trying, I’m applying to places all the time, but no one seems to be interested in me…or take pity on me… D: Anyone out there need an animator? Willing to move!

The comic is less important than your well being. So focus more on your self than the comic, I am sure the other fans will agree.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Love this one! Wow, that dress makes them Belfs look 3x hotter, doesn’t it?
lol, absolutely!
That dress makes almost any race look 3x hotter. :P
I absolutely agree with the first poster–take care of yourself first. I look forward to seeing your comics, but I don’t want to see them at the risk of your livelihood! Best wishes on finding work. :)
Um… Fyre… I used to teach 3DS Max and Maya at my old college… It’s not hard, just time consuming. Learning to animate in Flash is more challenging. Also, because you do animate in flash, you understand Key Framing: which is vital to 3DS Max and Maya.
You just need to get “Trial” software and a few tutorials. And ask me if you have questions!
Teach me! :P
This is so what should happen every time you use the opposite sex’s cologne! Ahaha.
Awsome comic! If you’re needing any help let me know. Was thinking the exact same thing when I saw perfume was usable btw :P
Love your comic, I’ve only recently discovered it but still, it’s great, I also wish you good luck and best wishes on finding a job, take care!
Hmm placves that might need an animator:

Longtime fan/lurker, first time poster.
If I didn’t have a g/f already, I’d give you a heartfelt *glomp* and well wishes. Unfortunately in this economy, its difficult for nearly anyone to find a job in the US, and its starting to affect other countries as well.
You can do something non-animator-related (like waiting tables or bartending) to pay the bills, live like a college student for a while, and let things blow over until the world economy stabilizes a bit.
Most places are looking for 3D modelers/animators because that’s what they’re looking for. It wouldn’t hurt for you to try to get with a good company like BioWare or Blizzard and check their job offerings. Video games make billions, moreso then movies. You could even combine the two and make a flash-based video game based on Daily Quests! It could be a cheap minimalist WoW parody/clone (and thus immune from that damned DMCA).
I’d use this time to broaden your horizens and look beyond pure 2D animation work, and try to get into the gaming field, if that’s something you’re into. Tons of opportunities for flash developers/animators for gaming.
Just want to letcha know I really love your work and style, Fyr is cute >_> GL n Best wishes. Will look forward to next comic no matter when it is =]
I seriously hope you can find a job, maybe come over to England and see if anyone needs an animator?
I’m definitely with you on the lack of job being a creative sucking vortex; been dealing with it myself; did my first comic since last June last night (and not posting the link here, this is YOUR show, not mine).
Something will come around for you, I know it. Talent is talent and you definitely have it :)
I’m in my 2nd year of animation school, im doing classic 2D cos i dont like 3d but in saying that my tudor whos been doing for 26 years says cannada is the place to be for 2D animation as it has the most studios and stuff :S I’m sure you will find a job soon! best of luck. its nice to see fellow animators like wow
Best of luck. Its awesome that you find a little bit of time to draw for us, for free and I hope your circumstances will ease up on you, simply because you sound like a wonderful person, and karma probably will give back one way or another.
Again, awesome art.
Very awsome how expressive your style is with characters. Especially Vas. Love to have my belf pally get the Daily Quests treatment. Hey maybe you could charge for that. Not like we WoW geeks are a rare commodity…
I agree with Zeth, offer to draw a comic version of peoples characters. Charge $5 a pop charge more for a small story line. I think you would have to ask blizzard for permission for something like that though, pay royalties maybe. Worth looking into in my opinion.
Ya im new to this comic since the old comic i use to read is finding a new artist but anywho the perfume thing is funny! Reminds me of when my rp character well hes getting married and he was wearing perfume and his future wife was like why you wearing perfume love? And i was like what! And then this male rper goes over and kisses me. But anyhow like everyone else said good job and remember to keep IRL in mind all the time. :D
Soooooooo Vas is more attractive to male orc then Fyr? odd
As has been said time and again already, don’t feel down on yourself for missing a deadline for a webcomic. Your life takes precedence over posting something for people to read. You’re giving us gifts, esentially, and that’s all fine and dandy; just don’t burn yourself out thinking you HAVE to do such things, especially when life issues plague you.
I hope all works out for you in the end, and I look forward to reading more DQ in the future.
