Fyre and Vas have been “lucky” enough to get BBQ’d by Deathwing in the comic, but I assure you, neither of us have been nuked in the actual game yet. I’m trying! Trying to be out in the old world as much as I possibly can be just to see that sky turn red! Anyone else been lucky enough to get a repair bill from Deathwing?
With only a few days left before Cataclysm, I’m getting really excited! Can’t wait to get in there with all the new content! hope everyone else is prepared! I’ll be giving out a few freebies to the other people standing in line at the EB Games we’ve preordered our CE from, though Weoh was the one who did the preordering, so I don’t even remember where it is at! As soon as I get my copy though, I’m rushing home and installing! Can’t wait to get in!
Other than that, I’m SUPER thrilled to say we’ve raised $155.00 so far for Child’s Play, which honestly is already more than I’ve hoped for! Anyway, I got lucky (sort of)… I got burned my Deathwing on my Troll Warlock that I was leveling down in Tanaris. It was pretty damn awesome. I actually thought the screen going red was a part of the quest until I looked around, “OH FUCK DEATHWING!!” and I died.
Haha! I had no idea what was happening as well. I was working on Loremaster on my druid in Southern Barrens on Thanksgiving when Deathwing apparently decided we were, in fact, having a Tauren dinner rather than turkey. I was on the ground and getting “lol grats” from my guildies before I’d figured out what the hell was going on.
It’s awesome,but it would be better if the last two pics where in black and white…
That gave me a laugh. Kinda surprised you didn’t put the achievement thing in any of the panels, but I guess that would’ve distracted from Vas’ reaction. =D
And I hate to say this, but like Entropia, I also thought the last two panels looked like an ice block at first glance. Guess the spirit healer robes have that effect on the eyes. =P

I managed to get the achievement the other day. Completely lucked out while I was lurking in gadgetzan.
I saw his HP and was like. WOAHGashjd. I saw 858.9 MILLION health. I had an anyurysm (sp?) xD
I thought they were randomly in an Iceblock too…
I got roasted on my level 50 druid… Though I kinda wanted it on my Mage… like… a lot more. :(
I got melted by Deathwing and I have absolutely no recollection whatever of it. I just opened up my achievements to see what I needed for one I was working on, and there it was! Weird…

I was doing the flame fly quest line and the npc would not take the turn in. At first i thought I had been disconected but then teh sky went red. I was like hmm oh no (just had put in a new vid card), then flames whent up every where. then it was wahoo.
hmm… I wonder if you can bubble or iceblock or whatever before the flames… or does it still kill you?
I hear no, its an instant death. I think even your combat log says something along the lines of “you are instantly killed by molten flame”
Well for me I think I got “lucky” I got to fly from ebon hold to UC and then the sky went red and the I saw Deathwing right in front of me, my life went to 0 but since I was “flying” I did not die.
So yeah, no repair bill and free achivement and one hell of a view of all Eastern plaguelands turning into ashes.
I was doin the new zones on a warlock alt when tanaris’ sky turn red.

I was unlucky enough to be on the very EDGE of Stonetalon mountains when the sky turned red. My man and I saw the sky turn red, watched Deathwing fly around but didn’t get burned. Haven’t seen him since, even though I’m doing all the quests for old world on Rae!
That is EXACTLY what happened to me on my main just last night i think edges of the zones are somehow safer…
I was turning in a quest in Southern Barrens on Hunter’s Hill and right before I accepted my loot, I got called away from the computer. I returned to find myself dead and Deathwing flying above me. Most epic thing EVER!
lol i got BBQed by accident when i was questing in badlands for achievements. I didn’t know animation saw the sky turn red and the all of a sudden “FWOOOOOOSH!” *you are dead bish*
then the achievement popped up :< it was like wtf ?!

I was lucky enough to be watching my uncle play ((Cause I’m a lazy S.o.B. with a puny 32 Troll mage)) on his Pally, and BOOM Deathwing BBQ. At first I was like o_o, and then I was like xD “You got owned!” And then I realized it was Deathwing and I was like o_o Again.
I have sadly been nuked twice by Deathwing while traveling around Azaroth, the first time the sky turned red I was confused and dead, the second time I just went “damn” and died.
I got fried in Tanaris. I was beating on Sand Trolls when suddenly the skies turned red, I heard the flapping of mighty wings. A booming voice cut through everything and then there was only the flames.
I was fireroasted by Deathwing in Blasted Lands.
The sad part is.. it was Blasted Lands. I had no clue it was happening until I was nice and burnt.
ON the other hand, I was able to see Deathwing has 858.9 million health… according to my unit frame addon.
If you guys are interested in like the two days left to find Deathwing use thottbot for it. There should be a post on there where it’ll let you know the best spots. Just got mine today :)

I was looking around the new Blasted Lands on my 80 hunter when the sky turned red. I wondered what was going on, and then looked and saw Deathwing, and I was like “oh crap, it’s Deathwing!” He was behind some hills mostly and moving off parallel to my route so I thought I was safe, so I tried to follow him to see what was going on. Then he swooped and turned and nailed me.
Then, I was logging into my level 45 mage in Gadgetzan when I died instantly, because that very instant the town was in flames. I laughed.
Blizzard are some sick puppies.
My friend and I were questing on alts in Eastern Plaguelands. She had to stop and answer the door and while she was gone, I saw some haze in the distance, I took 2 steps as I was going to investigate it and then suddenly we were hit with a wall of flame and died instantly. I squealed over vent to my friends as I saw Deathwing flying off and then noticed the achievement. My friend came back and asked why she was dead. She was most disappointed to have missed seeing herself fried at the hands of Deathwing when I told her what happened and she noticed her new achievement.
I was on my Blood Elf paladin (looks more like Fyre than Vas, btw :P ) the DAY 4.0.3a went live. I logged in at the graveyard at Thunder Bluff and started riding toward the (now) Southern Barrens. I figured I’d hoof it to Orgrimmar and grab some new flight points along the way rather than flying.
So I’m standing on that big new wall they put up, trying to figure out how to get around it. All of a sudden it’s panel two – red sky and me standing there going, “What the hell?”
Then it seemed as if the ground exploded in fire and magma around me. I never even saw Deathwing, but I saw the achievement come up.
“Oh swee… DAMN I’m not on Olania!! FUUUUUU!!!”
Thats why I haven’t been playing my alts, I just want to get it on my main!
There were two reasons I logged onto my sole Horde character first on patch day…
1. I had logged her out kneeling before Cairne Bloodhoof, and now needed to make the trek to Orgrimmar.
2. I was experiencing that weird bug where it was impossible to log into any character in the Eastern Kingdoms – and all my Alliance characters were parked in Stormwind. >.>

The place to afk at, is in Arathi Highlands, .. 44,60..ish, if I remember correctly. just north of this yellow npc stone giant. I only needed to be there for like 30 minutes before he came in and killed everyone standing in the same spot as myself. We all got the achievement. On WoWhead, both Arathi and the Wetlands seem to be very likely zones for Deathwing to strike
I do keep hearing that’s a good spot…
I was up in Winterspring at the time, questing. I had literally just turned in a quest an instant before everything took on a reddish tinge, so I assumed that it must be part of the quest chain, though I did think it was kind of odd. I didn’t even bother looking around, and so I was caught completely off guard when the world erupted into flames. I believe I summed up the experience best with the following message to my guild after the shock of getting the achievement wore off: “… Ow. x_x”
Interestingly enough, I don’t think dying that way did any damage to my gear; when I checked after reviving, I was only down by about 7 durability points total, spread out amongst my equipment, and I assume that was simple wear and tear from questing. Also, I was apparently lucky enough to be the first in my guild to stand in the fire. =D
I saw him in winterspring. I was down questing for loremaster in the blue dragon cave area. Everything went red, I saw him on the horizon, got excited. Then, he turned hard west, along the road and completely skipped the area I was in. Pissed that I didn’t get the achievement, happy that I saw that whole lake on fire though.
My new tauren paladin managed to get the achievement, but it happened while I was afk and running to the bathroom during a flight from Dustwallow to South Barrens so I never saw it coming. Not only that, apparently Deathwing’s attack was so brutal it killed my connection… I returned to find myself at the login screen, and logged in to see my character with flames around him, barely alive and coming in for a landing. Puzzled me until I saw the ‘buff’ he had and checked his achievements.
My wife and I were questing in Burning Steppes for the flamefly when the screen turned red. I waited, we got toasted and her reaction was ‘Oh, what was that?’. When I asked whether she noticed the red screen her reply was ‘Yes, did it mean anything?’. But she was very happy to have gotten the achievement out of it… :)
I think its sad to try to die in the game…but i want that achevment! lol
from what I have read, don’t bother installing. You already should have all the needed files. Someone said also that it would revert it to 4.0.1 seems possible to me.
I managed to get lucky enough, and am hated for it apparently. Was in Southern Barrens and remembered that I had skipped a quest that would give me the achievement for that zone. So, I hopped on the Flight Path, then all of a sudden the sky turns red and cloudy, the music becomes more epic and then he flew over the zone, cooking everything….lava and fire literally burst through the ground and reached the sky.
I didn’t die because of the flight path, I was a little pissed that I might not get it because I was on it too, looks like Blizzard thought ahead of time and I was rewarded the achievement. The chat was funny too, people thought their monitors broke or something till I realized and mentioned it, people were in uproar, it was hilarious.
Working on Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms and got done with the Badlands, specifically the Rhea quest line with Deathwing at the end. After the cut scene, I tossed a few yells as Deathwing flew away including, “Any time, any place, lizard!”
I flew up to Arathi Highlands to continue and ran up out of the Refugee Point to see the sky turn red. And there he was yelling and swooping low over the road. No chance to react, just the thought “He followed me!”. Rematch in a few patches, but I’m bringing 9 friends with me.

I was in Eastern Plaguelands, questing just north of Eastwall tower, when my screen changed to a tint of red. Thinking I had walked into some weird colored zone, I took two paces back. Just then, I saw the mobs ahead of me start dying from huge flames erupting from the ground.
I managed to get off a quick ‘wtf?’ before I was roasted. :)
I think the bugger is avoiding my main xD He flew over me once in Winterspring though… but somehow didn’t burn me D:

this happened to me. I was doing my rush to 85, was questing in uldum, when suddenly everything went red. I thought it was juse uldum turning into night, when suddenly, I was dead and everything was burning
I was lucky enough to get it on an alt I was lvling in EPL. Tried to get it on my main before the launch and no luck :( but I guess I should be just happy I got it one.
I saw him in Tarnais the yesterday. But only for a split second. And the Key word is s “Saw” as I didn’t get toasted. I even ran to the fire he left behind but it didn’t kill me. Which actually put me in a bad mood. I get all excited with everything turning red and all.. and I don’t get an achievement.
I just happened to go AFK in Uldum the other day so I could put laundry in the dryer and when I came back, I was dead! Couldn’t figure out what happened until a guild mate said he and I were lucky. So I checked my achievements, and there it was! I wish I would have gotten to see it happen =/
I’ve seen Deathwing twice.. the first time I didn’t stand in the fire.. the second time.. I spent like 2 minutes running around in flames.. got 12% of my hp off and the achievement. XD So yay for not dying.. apparently I’m invincible to Deathwings attack.. I should be good for the raid. XD
Man hang out around Uldum, I got nuked twice in one day! There i am happily slaughtering cursed gnomes and WHOOOOSH, owned! Go to Ramkahen to hand in a quest and you know what, Deathwing comes in for round two, so I guess I taste good as barbeque chicken ^.^
I got BBQ’ed by the big dragon yesterday.
It was funny, in a sense… I was frantically digging in the Badlands trying to get the last fossile fragments for my raptor mount. Luck was with me, I get enough fragments, I assemble the mount, mount it… Then the skies became red!
Looks like Deathwing doesn’t like undead raptors ;p
I died as a BE Warlock in Blasted Lands turning in a “go here and help out” quest at the new Cenarion outpost just past the murlocs. I never saw him coming; just red all around me, and the “you are dead” message, followed by “Achievement: you/ve been BBQed by Deathwing”. Even the sea was boiling as I ran back to my corpse. I would have liked to have seen him at least.
This is *EXACTLY* how I got my achievement about 2 minutes ago except my char has no ice block spell. I died gloriously in the sands.
I was in the blasted lands, doing a quest to get an amulet, and i got fried while i was underwater. :|
I was hit on one of my alts, Galensan on Kilrogg. On the 15th, this comic pertty much sum up how it happended lol. My reaction.. the same as Vas :P
