Rose Colored Glasses – Part 2
Anyone else remember these Devilsaurs from the olden days? I think Un’Goro was right about the time you’d get your level 40 mount, but at the time it was hard to come up with that kind of cash, and not everyone could get one right away. And you’d be wandering through Un’Goro, minding your own business and all of a sudden you’re getting chased by a freaking T-Rex! Where did that thing even come from! Its huge! At least, I remember it being so big…nowadays I don’t feel like it is…ah well.
Not that I think the “olden days” of WoW are any better than now, but there are some things I miss. I find myself thinking that the most enjoyable times I had in WoW were during Vanilla raiding, MC, BWL, Original Naxx. But even so, I wouldn’t trade any of what we have now to have that back. I LOVE getting a mount at 20, mounts being account wide, rep gains are a lot easier, transmog is AWESOME. Yeah, we’ve got it pretty good!
So the last comic I was kinda commenting that I need to be less concerned with the tiny details that get lost when I have to make the comic a certain size. Well, it’ll be a while before I get to that point, but in the mean time, it was requested that I post a bigger version of a couple of things, so here’s a couple detail drawings I did of the last couple of comics.
I love how the bird came out, but you miss a lot of the details when its as small as it is. As for the other one, you can’t even see the details of the robe (as minimal as they are) in the comic, as well as why did I even bother putting spots on the plant pet! Oh well! I like how both of them came out, even if no one really sees it!

Yeah.. lvl 40 just arriving into tanaris. “Ah its a brand new day! A new zone! I can’t wait to start quest…” *stepped on by anubisath*…. 5 minutes later and hiding in the gadgetsan inn.. “AH!! I can’t even get to the flight keeper! They keep killing it before I can get out!”
Ugh.. yeah I remember mounts at level 40 thought I was being smart saving up and buying my mount (which was 90g back then and training was 10g) when my toon was in her 20’s (managed to make the cash selling light leather for the opening of the gates of AQ) then they announced in a patch they were changing the mount system the training was going to be 90g and the mount was going to be 10g. I scrambled to make the patch deadline.. and was like one bubble away when the servers went down… so I ended up having to fork out another 90g for my mount training :(
A tad before my days. I was in my mid-30s when they made mounts available at level 20.
Loving that gryphon though. As bad as Cataclysm was, the Firelands dailies were still my favorite to date. :)

I remember my first mount. I’ve always been bad at saving money in game, especially back in Vanilla. But I had a plan! I managed to scrimp and save and get 10g together once I hit 40, and then instead of grinding out cash for a mount… I just ran AV until I had enough tokens saved up for the wolf mount from there.
Boy do I remember those days. Way back then I was 60 for months before I could afford my epic mount, and it was only because a friend quit and gave me fistfuls of gold. My gnome warlock I was able to afford the items for the mount quest because I found TWO world epics, and I couldn’t believe my luck.

To relive the ‘glory days’ of Un’goro and recapture a bit of that thrill, go visit the Isle of Giants, north of Kun-Lai. There’s a mount to grind for, and half a dozen pets to acquire!
The only thing that island is missing is “Journey to the Island” playing when flying towards it on a flight path, and the signature T. rex roar every now and then…

Back in the day when having 100g meant you were rich!
My first mount I actually had to take a loan out from a guildie (And let’s not forget about buying your TALENTS at lvl 40 either!!). I didn’t even get my epic riding until BC came out when I took out ANOTHER loan with a guildie to even afford that.

You inspired me to get “and pass” the Mountain of mounts, which is ironic as the only mounts I use 90% of the time are the headless Horseman’s mount, or the White Forsaken “argent” warhorse.
…I really need to check the Sunday Morning Funnies column more often – I didn’t realize DQ was back until today! nearly had a heart attack when I saw “Daily Quests” on the list of links.
Personally, I started playing right before patch 3.2, and I remember being absolutely delighted to find out that I was going to be able to get my mount so much sooner than expected, haha.
